I have no computer background, but I have been using emacs for the past 2
years.

I am using Emacs 28.2 on Trisquel 11. I have installed it using 'guix
package manager'.

When I am trying to open a file with emacs, named in Devanagari characters
it opens as a blank file and the file name on the mode bar appears as
garbage. (Please see the image.)

On the other hand, when I open the same file using the mini buffer, it
opens correctly as can be seen in the image below.

I have also tried adding the following in my init file. But problem
persists,

(set-language-environment "UTF-8")
(set-default-coding-systems 'utf-8)
(prefer-coding-system 'utf-8)
(set-terminal-coding-system 'utf-8)

आता आपल्या लिपीत संगणकावर काम करता न येण्याचा किंवा परक्या लिपीतून आपल्या
भाषा लिहिण्याचा करंटेपणा सोडून द्या.
