Hello fellow Emacsians!

By all accounts, EmacsConf 2019 was a big
success, and I'd like to say thank you to each
and every one of you for your help and efforts
in making it so! With just over 3 weeks after
the conference, I'm very happy to announce that
the EmacsConf 2019 videos are now available for
your viewing pleasure!

Videos
------

To view the videos and accompanying material,
head to the videos page of EmacsConf 2019 at:

    https://emacsconf.org/2019/videos

I would like to say a huge thank you to the
Computer Science Club of the University of
Waterloo for agreeing to host the EmacsConf
videos on their mirror server. Thank you CSC!

The videos were also uploaded to toobnix.org, a
PeerTube instance run by the SDF folks and part
of the fediverse network. Feel free to visit
the EmacsConf channel at

   https://toobnix.org/video-channels/emacsconf

and browse the "EmacsConf 2019" playlist for an
ordered list of this year's videos.

Shownotes pad
-------------

Per suggestion of Karl Voit, the viewers used a
shared etherpad for collecting show notes and
other useful tidbits of information on Nov 2.
The pad has been archived and converted to an
Org file by Karl himself (thank you, Karl!).
See https://emacsconf.org/2019/pad for more
information.

Caveats
=======

Of the 32 talks scheduled for EmacsConf 2019,
31 of them are available for your viewing right
now! With only these caveats:

1. Due to technical difficulties, we were sadly
unable to host Sachin's live talk on the day
of the conference. Sachin has told us that
he would send us a recording, but that he is
currently very busy. Of course, we will
make Sachin's recording available as soon as
it's ready and we receive it.

2. Another technical issue lead to frozen video
starting in the middle of Howard's talk.
Howard told us that he would work on putting
together a recording of his talk, and we'll
post the recording as soon as we get it.

3. Please note that the links for the videos
   and especially the notes/transcripts are
very likely to change in the near future,
and as such, I'd like to ask that you please
try to link to the main videos page itself
   https://emacsconf.org/2019/videos as much as
possible for now while we sort this out.

I have been looking for a nice low-overhead
and bare-bones free software solution for
hosting the conference videos, and I think
I've found a great candidate, LibreTube:
   https://libregit.org/heckyel/libretube.
I'll look into experimenting with LibreTube
and setting this up on our server if it
suits our needs well. That will likely
imply a change of some URLs, so if that's
necessary, I'll try to make the change as
smooth as possible, e.g. by setting up
automatic redirects to the new addresses.

Postmortem (coming soon)
========================

Now with the videos taken care of, I will work
on preparing a postmortem followup article with
details of our free software infrastructure and
streaming setup, as promised.

Thanks again to all of you for all of your help
and encouragements; I look forward to seeing
you around for the next EmacsConf!

P.S. we will hopefully have even more exciting
news to share with y'all soon; be sure to keep
an eye on this list. ;-)

Best,
amin
