well, it is difficult to keep arguing, isn't it?

I'm saying there's no need to feel smug, given the current situation. We should be able to do both the simple thing, and not-so-simple thing, better. Or at least, reasonably well.

And if we do the simple thing well, that's one less reason for anybody new to Emacs to shrug and give up.
