How to replace a string with one of a few alternatives? |

Hello fellow Emacsers,
I'd like to query-replace a string with one of a few alternatives. The
catch is, I'd like to select an alternative for each and every
occurence. Is there a ready-made solution for that? It should be
rather easy to hack, using query-replace-regexp and \, with some
function to select one of the alternatives, but why reinvent the wheel
if it's already done?
TIA,
