Problem also with autocomplete (was Re: problemi with simple ya-snippets)

Something strange is going on with my emacs installation: beside the
yasnipopet php not properly working with TAB, I've seen that
autocomplete is no more working even if I've AC in the status line. No
completions are popped up.
What could I inspect to fix the problem?
