Right, I'm reading the Elisp manual cover to cover.
This reference is useful to other/future readers of
this thread, though.
It would be cool to write a program that wrote a
program. Lisp has a background in AI (from the 50s),
though I don't know if it was a lucky coincidence that
the lists worked so well, as search (in particular),
but also the transformation of data structures, are so
central in AI.
