I have the same problem. I use color-theme.el in emacs 23, which worked fine in
Windows.
When I swithced to emacs 24 and tried to use my init.el (and includes) as they
were, I also got a white background.
Same thing when I try my setup with emacs 24 on Arch Linux with Awesome DE.
Did you solve this problem, and in that case how?
