What's about
/smb:john%MYDOMAIN@some.cifs.machine:/share/path/to/directory
/smb:john%SOME@some.cifs.machine:/share/path/to/directory
"SOME" is the host name of the remote machine. And what happens with
/smb:john%MYDOMAIN@some.cifs.machine:
/smb:john%SOME@some.cifs.machine:
