Hi all,

I am new to Emacs internal. When read elisp document, I found *syntax table* a bit hard to understand.

Info say: syntax table is used to determine sentence, word, etc. But why not use regular expression instead? And why not use an language parser(too difficult?)?

Honestly, I am not able to figure out the idea of syntax table structure(I try to C-h v it, but it's too large to understand). How can I get more information of it? Any suggestion are welcome:)

Regards,
Shenli
