Put following lines in your .emacs file:

(defun my-vhdl-write-file-hook ()
  (when (eq major-mode 'vhdl-mode)
    (untabify (point-min) (point-max))))

(add-hook 'before-save-hook 'my-vhdl-write-file-hook)
