I don't know why someone else should be concerned about what a user seesin the personal space a 1 - 1 1/2 feet in front of him.
Usually that is how software development starts: by caring for the needs of other people. Same for localization. _You_ may not need it, but some people, who have less skills at programming elisp than you do may need it.
