next-file buffer doesn't show

Hi,

I'm running:

GNU 5.93
emacs 21.4.1

I don't see this in the archives so I must be making some unique mistake.

I have my TAGS set up and can do other tag-table things but the "Stepping 
Through a Tag Table" isn't working right.

C-u M-x next-file and M-x next-file put the next file in a buffer that doesn't 
show up.  I can see it in my buffer list, and I can work my way to it, but it 
isn't displayed immediately as I expect.  I want to make a keyboard macro that 
takes advantage of next-file but this is messing up my plans.
