You can tell xterm to send any string to the app inside when you hit
C-up. Something like this:

XTerm.VT100.Translations: #override \
                        <Key>Delete: string(0x1B) string("[3~") \n\
                   Ctrl <Key>Up: string(0x1B) string("abcde")

The above goes in ~/.Xdefaults or ~/.Xresources. It tells xterm to
send ESC [ 3 ~ to the app when you press delete and, well, the rest
should be obvious.

Does it work?

Kai
