Thank you. I almost thought I was the only one who finds this
behaviour odd.

That's good news.

Well, there is always a possibility that the implementor decided to do
certain things later and instead provide Mac style alternatives in the
interim. I certainly wasn't in the position to rule this out.

I have ILISP active, but it doesn't change anything if I don't load
ILISP and the only thing in my .emacs file is the command to load
ILISP. Is there anything else which I wouldn't be aware of?

PS: I am not the only one having these and similar problems. I have
made contact with a few other Lisp newbies who use OSX and they also
have reported a variety of Emacs keyboard shortcuts that don't seem to
work.
