I'm having trouble assigning (point) to a variable...

(defun new-yank()
   (interactive)
   (let (beg-pos (point))
      (end-of-line)
      (forward-char)
      (yank)
      (backward-char (- (point) beg-pos))
   )
)

The last line is fine if I replace beg-pos with say 5.
Is I leave beg-pos then I get:

"Wrong type argument: number-or-marker-p, nil"

SOS,

Chris
