homepattern/mountpattern

Is there a default homepattern and mountpattern? Or is the declaration of
these missing from the simple example in the tutorial:
http://www.cfengine.org/docs/cfengine-Tutorial.html#Mount%20example

I cant figure out how cfengine knows the difference between homeservers
and binservers in this example since there is no homepattern
