I'd go as far as saying it is absolutely necessary. :-) It may also work 
to not show backward connections on the right and not show posward 
connections on the left (except as stubs), as an alternative, but we 
definitely need to show more than one step to the left/right. I think it 
is justified to put this as a task for 0.2, already.

Anybody want to start on it? :-)
