This is a known problem when working with the Mac.  Actually, GRUB
Legacy has the same problem.  Here a hack is used by some
distributions to work around this problem.  So I assume a firmware
update might fix this.

I am not sure if I want this hack in GRUB 2, as it involved busy
waiting...
