While we are on the subject of pet peeves, the thing that irks me
is the use of 'alot' which isn't a word.  It should be 'a lot'.  You
know, I like ice cream a lot.

Now, while I don't claim to be a paragon of spelling perfection, for
I certainly am not, for some reason I find this common error particularly
irksome.  Therefore, I'd like to share with you all, a little mnemonic
technique which has helped me to avoid it in the past.

The next time you find yourself writing `sepErate', remember that to
`sepArate' the two `E-s', *two* `A-s' are required.
