Thanks a lot for your testing!

Indeed, `I guess' is the right phrase.  `cstr54' is simply fuzzy about
empty lines in a .ul context.

Fortunately, GNU troff behaves similar to Unix troff, so my only task
is to document this (IMHO buggy) behaviour.
