Yes. I inadvertently changed the width commands in my test file
(e.g. thick = medium = narrow = 1) so that all lines were equal
and minimum width. The code is going in a separate mail.

Incidentally, I also checked this upgraded code with xditpsview
and although it looks good in terms of the line thickness, the
position of the whole figure is different from what the 'ps'
output is. Check it out.
