Ted, you are right.
The originaly difficulties I had are caused by having
a heterogenious environment of realy old fashioned *nix releases
and old scripts on the one hand side
and Windows NT with Cygwin B20.1 on the other hand side,
because the later has to generate files with dos CRLF and *nix LF.
The project requires to access the "file systems" with default mode
(Cygwin notation //c/temp etc.).
Then the runtime environment adds the \r during writing the data to
a disk file.
