Now I know you have not bothered to read the man pages...

At the top of the man pages for: cgps, gegps, xgps and xgpsspeed:

    "DESCRIPTION"
           "These are the demonstration clients shipped with gpsd."

At the top of the README file:

"The distribution includes sample clients, application interface
libraries, and test/profiling tools."


cgps uses ncurses.  xgps uses pycairo.  We could sure use a Qt or
GTK client.
