currently the distros (fedora and debian/ubuntu) don't seem to be
changing that config option from its default of "(undefined)".  so if
udev does the invocation (which is certainly preferable, imo), you're
stuck with the group ownership of ttyS0, whether it's what you want,
or even exists.

so perhaps debian and fedora should be encouranged to pick a value. 
and since i bet that value would be "dialout" in both cases, i now
wonder whether gpsd should simply set that as the default gpsd_group
value.  it would have solved my problem.
