Ok my experience is : I request a password reminder to be sent back to me so I can unsubscribe. 

                                    I wait for a response for a few days

                                    I  send desperate email saying I can't get a response...

                                    Repeat the above 3 steps

You go to the mailing list manager to take yourself off the list.

It works for everyone else.
