I actually had a hell of a time sorting out a nasty thread + STL issue a
while ago. I had a deque<> of fd's and all hell was breaking loose.
changed it to a list<> and it was just fine. Moral of he story : dont be
to slow to assume STL is broken, it may save you lots of debugging.
