I did also see something in one of my failed logs and since as far as I know 
Ubuntu 9.1.0 (Gnome) may come without KDE I am wondering whether

a) installing kde or kdeprint (except apparently removed in Ubuntu 8.1.0)  is 
needed for GNUmed (via kprinter) to work under Gnome
b) if installing the above are unnecessary then must some other non-kprinter 
configuration be done?
