Details:
If I want to scale a 3x3 pixel image up to 8x8 pixels, the correct scaling
value is 2.6 recurring (8/3). This value will always be an approximation; it
is impossible for me to express the correct scaling accurately.
I propose to allow the user to specify scaling values using fractional
notation. For example, to scale an image from 3x3 pixels to 8x8 I could use
the command:
astimgwarp --scale=8/3 input.fits
Best,
Lee Kelvin
