Sure, but in this case personally I don't think it's tricky at all.

Of course anyone is free to burn their own time trying to get this
individual to behave rationally, and I might even applaud such efforts
for their patience and tolerance.  But I also reserve the right to say
"I told you so" when they fail ;-)
