In addition to ^(A) and ^(la) and ^(5) for an A string in a ring, would
it be possible to add one half linespace or half its horizontal space
for each additional ^, or _ or -, so ^^^1 would be the same as ^" "^1?
^_1 would place the finger above the note and then draw the finger down
1/2 line closer to the notehead than ^1, etc.. And -^1 would put the
finger in front of the note and up 1/2 linespace? So ^-1 would put the
finger at normal height but move it left half a horizontal space, and
^_-1 would have the finger above but one half linespace lower than the
default and one half horizontal space to the left? The idea is that the
first symbol places as the default and the rest modify by half.

It would be very convenient to be able to give a rest a pitch.

I use the following for fingering:
t i m a q T X K J M W A V Q P H h 1 2 3 4...19 [5e [12a, d, g, b, and
rings: (E) (A) (D) (G) (B) (1) or (e). Please don't disappear anything
in the process.

I assume that you no longer use -1 for default above or below but rather
put the number before the note.
