At least Wikipedia says:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNOME

"GNOME is part of the GNU Project"

and

https://www.gnu.org/software/software.html

says "gnome" and redirects to Gnome website.

Public information says that Gnome is part of GNU project. Wikipedia
says so, and nothing contrary can be found.

That GNOME is not anymore acronym does not need to necessarily change
that fact.

GNU project says it is part of GNU. I consider it part of GNU.
