That could be a valid reason, but I see a possible gap between that
criterion and criterion that matters to us:

Microsoft expects people to run the nonfree dotnet on GNU/Linux.
If that happens, would it be desirable to invite them
to switch to Mono on GNU/Linux?

If so, that could give us more reason to care about Mono on GNU/Linux
than we had in the past.
