hello there,
i just checked in an amended version of the GCJ-friendly Serpent (under
the gcj/ tree) that implements the required little-endian byte-ordering
requirement, as described by the algorithm authors in the Serpent
paper. with Casey's previous checkin, this concludes the issue of
Serpent's endianness in GNU Crypto.
i also checked in under etc/ a 'serpent.m4' M4 macros file that i used
to generate the bulk of the encrypt() and decrypt() methods. the code
in the expansion is from Dag Arne's serpent.c.
in time these macros will be used during the auto*/configure process to
generate the .java class. for now it has to be done by hand. to try
it, do:
m4 serpent.m4 > serpent.m4.out
you should then see, in the output file, the code referred to above.
cheers;
rsn
ps. many thanks to Dag Arne, for bringing this to our attention and for
his survey of the existing implementations and their compliance with
the Serpent paper :-)
