We should favor only one backend, why ? because the goal is to concentrate 
effort on RCS functionnality, what would be damaging is to design for only 
one backend.

Let's start with one, and after if ARCH 2.0 have a notion of backend, it will 
be more evolutive in order to follow evolution of market and his needs.

About the market, my job make me work with MAC and Windows world. Next my 
point if view of quality support on windows or not is that we don't need to 
have a full quality equivalent on each support, but all functionnality yes, 
in order to make easier the promotion of ARCH 2.0.

After if it seem reasonnable that if a community on a non GNU system have a 
strong need of ARCH 2.0, that ARCH 2.0 could be easily port on other systems.

market :

In general the visibility of the product by the market is
_ GNU users
_ Windows users that are aware of GNU products
But not Windows users, that switch to Gnu OS to use GNU tools. This is only 
when they see that GNU tools are better, that after they thing GNU OS are 
better and switch to.

About the needs actually, RCS is a hacker tool, even if the tools can be used 
to do other things (configuration file management), but if we take the case 
of Web development, there is not a lot of tools that is adapt to hacker, sys 
admin, and graphic designer.

The market need a tool that can make easier the exchange of the production 
between the diferent kind of specialist. XDelta can be an aspect of the 
answer for graphic designer for example ?
