This is completely stupid -- there's often an intimate connection between a
particular source tree and its =tagging-method; you can't just use a
"generic" per-user tagging method and expect anything but grief.

No way should tla have even optional support for something so broken.

If your co-worker insists on using rsync, I'd investigate its options a bit
more closely, in particular the ones that cause it to respect file deletion
(rsync is still very dangerous for two-way syncing, but I suppose you could
make it work if you kept a strict discipline).
