It's not "being meta-data" that makes tags inappropriate. Being pure
meta-data is a necessary condition for thinking about excluding them.
Nobody is arguing that they are inappropriate in all situations,
AFAICT. For example, you (personally, with rms's approval) could
officially add the tagline to the lisp-mnt.el standard, and I think
that would be completely traditional. But the reductionist argument
Tom is making ("it's all data, so if arch uses it, objecting to it is
wrong") is a bug.
