the deep relative paths in project trees are finite:
bigpart :=
<category>/<category>--<branch>/<category>--<branch>--<version>
longpaths :=
<archive-name>/<bigpart>/<shortpath>
| <bigpart>/<archive-name>/<shortpath>
in revision libraries, under a <longpath>, you can have a project tree
(which can itself include a <longpath>)
It's nowhere near exceeding a reasonable limit.
