Hello gnokii users,
I've managed to make two phones work with gnokii for sending and
receiving messages. The phones are Nokia 2330c (VGA camera; no external
memory) and Nokia c2-01 (the one with a 3.2 Mp camera and external memory).
The relevant portions of the config file are: (works for both models)
port = xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx ; to get the phone's port, press *#2820# on
the phone's keypad
model = series40 ; I've tried all the different phone
models, including AT -- they didn't work
connection = bluetooth ; this is what works for me; haven't managed
to do it with a usb connection
I've used both phones heavily in an application for delivering simple
learning modules, using SMS, to farmers (it's a free service).
However, some things have to be done manually; in particular, deleting
messages. After downloading all messages to the computer with -getsms, I
have to manually (on the phone) use Mark All, then Move to another
folder (I can delete them later; I postpone deleting as a precaution).
I wish I could use gnokii's delete facilities, but I haven't managed to
make them work on these two phones. The phone's message database gets
mangled, if I use gnokii for this.
If anyone has managed to do so, I would appreciate hearing from you.
I would also like to hear if you know some Nokia models with bluetooth
that work very well with gnokii for receiving/sending SMS AND deleting
them automatically from the phone after a --getsms.
Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Pawel Kot, Daniele
Forsi, and the rest of the gnokii team for a very useful software.
Greetings to all,
