As far as I can see, this is the log from xgnokii and gnocky. Can you
please make up your mind which app do you use? So far your bug report
seems very confusing :(

The attached text file (in my previous message) was captured after:
cd /tmp/gnokii-master/xgnokii
./xgnokii
and then attempting to access each of the message boxes using the
xgnokii GUI. The last line "Serial device: closing device" is when I
pressed the xgnokii GUI close button.

YES. You can configure SMSD in file mode. Create a script(Bash/Perl/Python) to scan the directroy of incomming SMSs, do whatever you want (HTTP Request/Response) in the script, post the return SMS in the SMS outbox directory.
