xgnokii and sms inbox

I have a Nokia 2730 Classic which I can access perfectly using:
gnokii --getsms IN 1 end

but fails when using xgnokii or gnocky. Trying to access sms inbox
using gnocky gives:

SMS Messages: ME Unread 0 Total 1
gnocky_read_sms_list: The given memory location is invalid.

I am using the series40 driver with Bluetooth.

Is there a config file setting for the Inbox memory type or am I doing
something else wrong?
