Hi! thanks for responding! 

yes, bluetooth is running on my computer. it is shown as up and running. the
following is the output:

Bluetooth is turned on on my phone. The Bluetooth icon is shown on my phone.
I have run the gnapplet as well on my phone.

I got a PIN enquiry. I put it in and saved it and it does not ask me
anymore.

I can see a connection on my phone when I connect using AT mode using rfcomm
and bluetooth. 

However, there is no response at all when I use non-AT mode.

Right now, I suspect the signal was not sent out at all when I use non-AT
mode.
