Sorry about the delay in this. I was inaccurate in my previous comments - 
gnokii, the console program, works just fine with the K700i, however it does 
require manual selection of the memory to be used for both the phone book and 
the SMS memory. 

Attached are samples of the output for gnokii sending an sms successfully and 
xgnokii successfully extracting the phone book but not parsing the sms 
message centre number despite issuing the +CSCA? command. 

So I can send SMS manually, but sadly not graphically.

Interesting side note: the output of gnokii --monitor

Which is somewhat odd since it's currently logged onto the UK Orange network.
