Estimated number of SMS processable

Hi gnokii Forum,
I am developer of transportation and routing software, located in Berlin.
I use GSM phones to transmit SMS to partners and co- workers.
Right now, we use Nokia 6210 phones, connected by serial cable.
I wonder, how many SMS can be sent through a single phone, before you 
would expect congestion effects?
Which would be the solution upwards, i.e. what kind of appliance can 
handle more outgoing SMS more reliably?
