I don't know if gnokii developers already know
this, but the 5110, 6110, 6150 series phones phones can be switched on from
power down mode by applying a 10mS pulse to the BTEMP battery connector (when
looking at the back of the phone with battery removed, this is the 3rd battery
contact from the left).
Unfortunately this does not work when the phone is
in "acting dead" mode. This mode occurs when the phone is powered down but
is connected to a charger. In "acting dead" mode the electronics of the
phone is actually running (in order to do smart battery charging) but to the
user it appears switched off - although the battery bars on the display show the
battery charging. It also appears that the data connection of the phone is
active in this mode.
In the event that a phone's battery goes flat
(perhaps during an extended power outage) and the phone powers down, there seems
to be no way to automatically power it back up again if it has a charger plugged
in, because neither a pulse to BTEMP or a 0x0c - 0x0d message to effect a
keypress on the power button seems to power the phone up.
A pulse to BTEMP works great when the phone is
powered down (without charger) and a 0x0c - 0x0d message will power the phone
down when it is powered up.
My question is - has anyone discovered a "power up"
message type to switch the phone on from "acting dead" mode?
