Error 0 is no error.

This output isn't sufficient. Seems that problem is deeper in code. Please
rebuild gnokii with debug enabled, add -g switch to smsd CFLAGS (remove -s
from LDFLAGS). After crash smsd should produce core file. Analyze it with gdb
and find point where smsd crashed.
