Talking about crazy ideas, Will a monthly magazine from the "gNewSense Crew" would be to much to spread gNewSense and the 100% Free Software Distributions? Please note that in case it apply it would be something from the community, not something "official" from the gNewSense distro, to avoid weird problems compromising the gNewSense name.Great idea, Luis. I will speak to the people of the other free distros. Maybe we can make a joint effort that will make it a better magazine.
Interesting idea. But I wonder if there is an audience for this? Are there a lot of users of gNS or the other distros that are not on the mailing lists, forums or IRC? Because for the people that are, a magazine wouldn't provide them with much new information (depending on the content). It seems more suited for people not using the currently available communication channels and for potential new users.
That said, I thought I'd throw in some ideas for content:- Easy to understand articles about free software philosophy and related subjects - Interviews with community members of distros, members of the FSF and other organizations
- News from the distributions- The web is full of how-to's and manuals, so I don't think we'd need much of that.
- A column (not a rant) - Highlight a specific area that needs help and explain how to get started - User questionsA proper magazine is probably a lot of work. You could contact Full Circle Magazine [1] to get an idea of what's involved.
