That's quite strange. When you boot into the LiveCD, there should not
appear the login screen, but immediately the gNewSense desktop. And when
you log out, the login screen should appear, but hold a coutdown after
which you will automatically be logged in again.
I will boot into the liveCD to see what the user name is. You can then
try out if you can log in with this data.
