You're right. Most processes are not documented. But we recently started the Processes page [1] to try to fill the holes in documentation.

A potential contributor asked recently what is actually involved in creating a new release of gNewSense. You can find the short answer in the mailing list [2].

Thanks for the links. I've gone through the wiki, BZR repository briefly and some of the mail threads.
The issue is that this doesn't give any idea of the final destination. Also the current situation is unclear.

The current situation is that there's no documentation that takes new contributors by the hand and walk them through all the process of starting development on a new version of gNewSense and then through the process of release it. We don't have people to write those guides either. So, it's hard to tell when that documentation is going to be available.

Currently, the only person I know that could write that documentation is Sam, the current gNewSense lead (and only?) developer. But there's a problem, Sam is currently multitasking. As far as I know he's the only person working on the processes of deriving from Debian and releasing gNewSense.
