I have looked at that enscript_mipsel.log and found this:

dpkg-source: info: local changes stored in 
enscript-1.6.5.2/debian/patches/debian-changes-1.6.5.2-1gnewsense1, the 
modified files are:
 enscript-1.6.5.2/afm/Makefile.am
 dpkg-source: info: building enscript in 
enscript_1.6.5.2-1gnewsense1.debian.tar.gz

I don't see any debian-changes while building this package from source
downloaded from my site (just checked before a moment). Is it possible that
something modified sources? (earlier builds or something? I'm not dpkg expert)

However that does not explain why it fails on autoreconf stage. Can you verify
that autoreconf work on any other sources (vanilla enscript sources?)
