I would have posted my question in gnash-users, but it doesn't exist ;)

Nice to know, thanks. So before I push off myself back into lurk-mode, 
let me say, your work on gnash is much appreciated. I'd just checked out 
0.8.1. and was happily surprised by the progress that project made.
